It all started back in 1983 at the ‘Night Train Disco’ in Broken Hill. It was a huge nightclub holding around 1500 people.
The venue was a popular stopover for large touring bands travelling between Adelaide and Sydney. Brent was the resident DJ there and as a wide-eyed 17 year old he was working with bands like Men at Work, Australian Crawl, Midnight Oil and The Party Boys on a weekly basis packing that huge floor 3 nights a week – and he was hooked.
In ’86 Brent moved to Brisbane and started performing private functions and weddings. Weddings are now our main focus and make up more than 60% of all our bookings.
In ‘88 after graduating from the Australian Institute of Radio and Television Brent then went on to graduate from the Brisbane Academy of Radio and Television which was run among others, by perennial Brisbane radio announcer Barry Drinkwater (Triple M) who some 12 years later booked him as his Wedding DJ.
In the years that followed Decibels has grown into a full time endeavor for Brent who travels internationally to hone his skills under some of the best in the business. With over one thousand successful weddings behind him and a reputation based on repeat business and referrals Brent has now become one of Brisbane’s most sought after Wedding and Corporate Master of Ceremonies.
