For me it all started in 1983 at the Night Train Disco in Broken Hill. It was a huge nightclub holding around 1500 people. The venue was used as a stopover for large touring bands travelling between Adelaide and Sydney. I was the resident DJ there and as a wide-eyed 17 year old I was working with bands like Men at Work, Aussie Crawl, Midnight Oil and The Party Boys on a weekly basis. I was packing that huge floor 3 nights a week and I was hooked.

In '86 I moved to Brisbane and started doing private functions as a break from the gruelling nightclub scene.

In 1988 after graduating from the Australian Institute of Radio and Television I then went on to graduate from the Brisbane Academy of Radio and Television which was run among others, by perennial Brisbane radio announcer Barry Drinkwater (then at Triple M) and who some 12 years later booked me as his Wedding DJ.

In the years that followed with repeat business and the many venues that now recommend Decibels we have matured and grown to be one of Brisbane's most respected and well known DJ hire companies averaging 300 functions a year. We are proud of the list of TV, Radio and Australian Recording and Film stars we have entertained over the years, we're still having fun and the list is still growing.

To be paid for doing something you really love is surely what we all crave.
